Chief Political Commissar, AIG Ubaldo Bamunoba closed a five-day training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Children (VAC) prevention and response for officers and stakeholders working in refugee settlements and host communities in the two policing regions of West Nile and North West Nile.

The training, held in Arua City organised by the Child and Family Protection Department headed by ACP Maureen Atuhaire, was supported by International Development Law Organization (IDLO) to strengthen participants’ capacity to effectively address GBV and VAC in their areas of work.

AIGP Bamunoba urged participants to be change agents and apply the knowledge and skills gained to create safer and more supportive communities. He appreciated the partnership between the Uganda Police Force and International Development Law Organization represented by Ms Jennipher Achaloi, for their continued collaboration in this important cause.

The training brought together 50 participants, including police officers and partners from the Office of the Prime Minister, UNHCR, Justice Centres, Uganda Law Society and Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
