National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) through its Corporate Communications Unit has engaged key senior news editors from different media houses across the country through their umbrella association, the Editor’s Guild.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Barirega Akankwasah thanked the senior editors for their role in holding NEMA accountable through the media and encouraged them to promote responsible reporting rather than sensational journalism.
The Executive Director also highlighted Uganda’s notable achievements in the environment sector, noting that the country was ranked 1st in Africa and 4th globally in wetlands conservation. He further mentioned that the National Environment Act, Cap. 181, was voted the best law globally under the World Future Policy Award, among other recognitions.
Dr. Barirega emphasized that environmental stewardship is everyone’s responsibility and should be embraced by all.
