In the company of Rt Hon Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki Prime minister Tooro kingdom, Hon. Joan Kantu Else, the Minister of Tourism and Hon. Nicholas Mugume, Deputy Minister for Youth, we had the honour of meeting His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda at his country home in Rwakitura.
Rt Hon Armstrong delivered a special message from His Royal Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and formally presented a transformative legacy project for the Tooro Kingdom, which His Excellency graciously committed to support.
The proposed project seeks to rehabilitate and preserve Muchwa, the Parliament of the Kingdom, as well as the Royal Tombs, both central pillars of Tooro’s cultural heritage. In addition, it envisions the construction of a 1,000-seater modern conference hall, a museum, a cultural centre, and a youth skilling and empowerment centre aimed at preparing young people for meaningful participation in the economy.
The development further includes the establishment of a five-star hotel, a shopping mall, office blocks, and residential apartments, strategic investments designed to boost tourism, create employment, and stimulate sustainable economic growth within the Kingdom. This initiative builds upon His Majesty the King’s earlier gesture of offering land to the Government for the construction of a stadium.
We sincerely thank His Excellency the President for embracing this vision and for his commitment to partnering with the Kingdom in advancing infrastructure development, cultural preservation, and socio-economic transformation for the people of Tooro and Uganda at large.
