Uganda Starts Mandatory Motor Vehicle Inspection Exercise

Ministry of Works & Transport, together with Uganda Police Force, has started Mandatory Motor Vehicle Inspection to improve road safety, protect the environment and keep the public safe.

Vehicles will be checked for brakes, suspension, lights, exhaust emissions and overall mechanical condition. The exercise has started with government vehicles, PSVs, private omnibuses, tourist vehicles, and vehicles referred by police.

Other vehicles will be inspected on dates to be announced. Inspection is being done at Kawanda, Namanve, Nabbingo, Namulanda, Mbale, Gulu, and Mbarara. Fees have been reduced to encourage compliance.
