On 3rd February 2026, National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) shut down an illegal abattoir and raw hide curing yard in Seetta Village, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District, for pollution due to poor waste disposal and persistent noxious emissions endangering residents.
The facility, was found operating without authorisation and the poor waste disposal posed serious health risks. Three workers were arrested, and the landlord has been summoned for questioning.
