Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) revealed that construction of New Gynecology Ward at Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) nears completion.
The new magnificent and state of the art Gynecology/Obstetric fistula ward being constructed at Lira Regional Referral Hospital has reached 90% completion, awaiting official handover at the end of this month.
The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Heath, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero in November 2025. The ward is being expanded from 10 bed capacity to 45 bed capacity with a conference room, offices for nursing staff and doctors fully equipped with beds and other accessories at a cost of Ugx. 600 million.
State of the art equipment for management of the urogynecology/ fistula patients will also be installed in the ward.
This will include operation tables, anesthesia machines and other equipment. It’s also worth noting that, one Gynecologist from Lira Regional Referral Hospital is being supported to undertake a fellowship program in Urogynecology and female pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
