Uganda Police Impound 'UBL 572k' Taxi Linked To Highway Robberies

Uganda Police Force confirmed that taxi registration number UBL 572K, which is linked to alleged highway robberies, has been impounded in Masaka and escorted to Nateete Police Station to facilitate investigations.

Preliminary reports indicate that the taxi intercepted a female victim, coerced her into opening the door, and falsely informed her that she had knocked someone dead at Namungona Roundabout along the Northern Bypass, a deceptive tactic believed to be used to steal victims’ vehicles.

Following this incident, police launched a coordinated search operation for the vehicle, which culminated in its successful interception and impoundment in Masaka.

Efforts are currently underway to record the victim’s statement and place it on file to support ongoing investigations. Further updates will be communicated in due course.
