Thousands Of Excel Vocational Training Centre Students Benefit From ONC Ramadan Food Donation

Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has delivered a large consignment of food items to thousands of students at Excel Vocational Training Centre in Bombo Kalule as part of its ongoing Ramadan outreach programme aimed at supporting Muslim learners observing the holy month.

The food packages were delivered on Thursday, March 13, 2026, by ONC Deputy Head of Mobilization George William Kalema on behalf of the ONC Manager and Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye. The outreach targeted students fasting during Ramadan and sought to strengthen community engagement through humanitarian support to institutions nurturing young people.

Among the items handed over to the institute were beans, sugar, milk, dates, rice, spaghetti and cooking oil. The food supplies are expected to support Muslim students with meals for Iftar and Sahoor throughout the fasting period.

While addressing the students, Kalema cautioned them against misusing their time while at the training centre, urging them to remain focused on their education and skills development. He emphasized that education and discipline remain the strongest tools for young people to secure a better future.

“You are here to build your future,” Kalema told the students. “Time is a very valuable resource and if you waste it, you waste opportunities that may never return. Focus on your studies and skills because education is what will make you relevant and useful to society.”

He further encouraged the students to carry forward the values of discipline, patience and self-control learned during Ramadan even after the fasting period ends.

“God teaches us that discipline and patience are virtues that shape a responsible person. Ramadan trains us to control our desires, respect others and strengthen our faith. These values should not end with the fasting month but should guide your life every day,” Kalema said.

Kalema also commended the long-standing relationship between the Office of the National Chairman and Excel Vocational Training Centre, noting that the collaboration has been strengthened by the leadership of the institute’s Director Shafic Mwanje, who also serves as the ONC Head of Mobilization. He thanked Hajjat Namyalo for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing her during the outreach. “I am grateful to Hajjat Namyalo for trusting me with this important mission. It is a privilege to carry forward her vision of compassion and support for our students,” Kalema said.

The ONC delegation was received by the Deputy Director of the institute, Aisha Mwanje, alongside the Chairman of the Excel Muslim Students Association, Abubakar Swiddiiq Mumeya, who expressed gratitude for the timely support extended to the students.

Speaking during the handover, Aisha Mwanje praised Hajjat Namyalo for her generosity and good heart in remembering the institute during this critical period of fasting.

Muslim leaders and student representatives at the institution welcomed the gesture and praised the continued outreach by the Office of the National Chairman in supporting learners and vulnerable communities.

“We are thankful for the food packages that will help us break the fast during Ramadan,” Mumeya noted. “This gesture reflects true leadership and compassion, and it encourages us to remain disciplined and focused on our studies.”

The latest initiative forms part of a wider Ramadan relief campaign spearheaded by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo across the Kampala Metropolitan area. Since the start of the holy month, the ONC has been distributing food packages to various Muslim communities, mosques and institutions as part of efforts to promote compassion, solidarity and community welfare.

Namyalo has consistently emphasized that charity and support for those in need are core teachings of Islam, often reminding Muslim believers that the Prophet Muhammad encouraged those blessed with resources to extend help to others, especially during Ramadan.
