President Museveni Appoints New Deputy Chief Justice And Chief Registrar

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi as the new Deputy Chief Justice, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU).

The announcement, dated Thursday May 14, 2026, said the appointment is pending parliamentary approval.

“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) would like to inform the general public that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Justice Moses Kaziwe Kawumi as the new Deputy Chief Justice,” the statement reads.

The President also appointed Her Worship Agnes Alum as the new Chief Registrar.

According to the statement, the name of the new Deputy Chief Justice has already been forwarded to Parliament for consideration and approval.

The appointments were announced in a press release issued by the Department of Press and Public Relations under the Presidential Press Unit.
