Businessman and Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) mobiliser Hajji Muhammad Ssebuufu has commended the Ruparelia family for its contribution to Uganda’s economy and community welfare through private investment and charitable initiatives.
Ssebuufu made the remarks in Gulu, where he led a PLU delegation to honour the late Rajiv Ruparelia during a memorial motorsport event celebrating his life and contribution to rallying.
He praised the Ruparelia Foundation for its community support programmes and acknowledged the Ruparelia Group’s investments across various sectors, noting their role in supporting business growth and creating employment opportunities.
The gathering also celebrated Rajiv’s involvement in motorsport and reflected on the charitable activities undertaken in connection with efforts to keep his legacy alive.

Rajiv, the son of businessman Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, died in a road crash in May 2025 at the age of 35. He was a rally driver and patron of the Central Motor Club.
Since his death, members of Uganda’s motorsport community have continued to organise events in his honour, providing opportunities to celebrate his life and remember his contribution to the sport.
During the Gulu event, Ssebuufu also expressed appreciation to President Yoweri Museveni for what he described as an investment-friendly environment that enables businesses to establish themselves, expand and contribute to national development.
He noted that a supportive business environment allows private investors to grow their enterprises while generating opportunities that benefit the wider community.
Ssebuufu further observed that the contribution of businesses should extend beyond commercial success to include philanthropy and support for community-based initiatives that improve people’s welfare.
He also commended PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Secretary General Fadil Twalla and MP David Kabanda for their efforts to promote the fight against corruption.
According to Ssebuufu, accountability and responsible leadership are essential to ensuring that public resources are properly managed and reach their intended beneficiaries.
His remarks connected the remembrance of Rajiv Ruparelia with a wider discussion on the importance of private-sector investment, charitable giving and accountable leadership in Uganda’s development.
The PLU delegation’s visit brought together members of the political and motorsport communities to honour Rajiv’s memory while recognising the Ruparelia family’s business and philanthropic activities.
