Electoral Commission began the packing of presidential ballot papers, marking a key milestone in preparations for the 2026 General Elections.
The exercise, which took place under tight security, was witnessed by representatives of political parties and presidential candidates, in a move aimed at reinforcing transparency, accountability and confidence in the electoral process.
Officials from the Commission said the presence of stakeholders was part of its broader commitment to inclusive participation and openness at every stage of the election cycle, from printing and packing of materials to polling and tallying.
“The packing of ballot papers is a critical step in ensuring that all electoral materials are properly accounted for and securely handled ahead of distribution to polling stations across the country,” an Electoral Commission official said.
The Commission assured the public that all procedures are being conducted in accordance with the law and established electoral guidelines to guarantee the integrity of the vote.
The packing exercise will be followed by the deployment of ballot papers and other sensitive materials to districts nationwide, ahead of polling day. The Commission urged political actors and the public to remain engaged and cooperative as preparations for the 2026 General Election progress.
