The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has called on Ugandans to uphold peace, unity and discipline as the country heads into the Christmas and New Year festivities, as well as the forthcoming January 2026 elections.
Speaking during her Christmas and New Year address, Hajjat Namyalo urged Ugandans especially Bazzukulu to celebrate responsibly and remain committed to maintaining peace before, during and after the electoral process, noting that stability is the foundation of national development.
“As we celebrate Christmas and prepare to welcome the New Year, I call upon all Ugandans to remain peaceful and united. Peace is the backbone of our progress, and without it, we risk losing the gains we have worked so hard to achieve,” Namyalo said while addressing journalists at her offices In Kyambogo.
She emphasized the importance of conducting the January 15 elections in a calm and orderly manner, encouraging voters to make informed choices that safeguard Uganda’s stability and development trajectory.
“I appeal to Ugandans to keep peace during the January 15 elections and to vote wisely. Let us vote for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the next President so that we can protect the gains of peace, economic transformation and national unity,” she added.
Hajjat Namyalo also issued a strong warning to political leaders against inciting violence or exploiting young people for personal political interests. She expressed concern over the growing trend of youth being mobilized into acts that later destroy their lives.
“Some selfish political actors are using our young people to cause chaos, yet when these youths are arrested or imprisoned, they are abandoned. Their families are left suffering in poverty and frustration while the leaders who misled them remain unbothered,” she said.
She urged political leaders across the country to exercise responsibility and restraint, stressing that leadership should be about protecting lives and securing the future of the next generation.
“Our young people are our future. Leaders must stop using them as tools for violence. True leadership is about guiding, protecting and empowering them, not sacrificing them for selfish ambitions,” Namyalo noted.
Hajjat Namyalo concluded her message by wishing Ugandans a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reaffirming the Office of the National Chairman’s commitment to promoting unity, patriotism and socio-economic empowerment across the country.
“I wish all Ugandans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Let us choose peace, unity and progress for our country,” she said.
