President Museveni Hails Ugandans’ Support, Highlights Kigezi’s Economic Potential At 45th Tarehe Sita Commemoration

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated Ugandans for what he described as their sacrifices and overwhelming support in the recent elections, reaffirming his commitment to national transformation and socio-economic development.

Speaking during the 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations held in Kabale District, Museveni said the victory reflected citizens’ continued trust in the country’s leadership and its vision for stability and progress.

Museveni emphasised that Kabale and the wider Kigezi sub-region possess vast untapped potential in minerals, agriculture and tourism. He noted that ”if these sectors are well organised and developed, they could drive growth in manufacturing, industry, and services, ultimately improving household incomes and the quality of life.”

Museveni also expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to commemorate Tarehe Sita in Kabale, describing the area as historically significant in Uganda’s liberation struggle.

He recalled that during the early phase of the people’s resistance in 1973, three patriots were executed in Kabale, alongside many others across the country who lost their lives in the fight against oppression.

In honour of their sacrifice, Museveni commissioned a monument in Kabale to serve as a permanent reminder of the heroes who contributed to Uganda’s liberation.
