Reference is made to official announcement issued on 6th January 2026 by the Ministry of Education and Sports regarding the re-opening of all Schools and Education Institutions across the country on 2nd February 2026.
The Ministry hereby informs you that due to the 2026 General Elections and to ensure the safety of all learners, all Schools and Education Institutions across the country are directed to reopen on TUESDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2026. For avoidance of doubt, this includes all International Schools, Tertiary Institutions and Universities.
Vice Chancellors, Principals, Headteachers, parents, guardians, school administrators, students and the public are hereby notified that Term 1 for the Academic Year 2026 runs from Tuesday 10th February 2026 to Friday 1st May 2026.
All school administrators are directed to adhere firmly to these dates and the approved school calendar published on the Ministry website at https://www.education.go.ug/school-calendars/
