62 Independent MPs Express Interest In Aligning With NRM

Speaker Anita Among Welcomes Independent MPs Seeking Alliance With NRM

Speaker of Parliament who is also the NRM 2nd National Vice Chairperson, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among today morning welcomed a section of independent Members of Parliament Elect that seek to enter a cooperation agreement to ally with the ruling party. Among met the group at the NRM secretariat at plot 10, Kyadondo road, Nakasero. 

According to Vice Chairperson Among, Independent MPs who express interest to ally with the NRM will be invited to attend the upcoming Kyankwanzi Retreat slated to take place next month on April 07th.

“During this retreat, we will officially welcome them and formally introduce those who will have signed to work with the party,” Among said. 

Speaker said out of 69 Independent MPs, 62 of those have expressed interest to be NRM leaning in the 13th parliament, “something worth celebrating because it adds to our already big numbers.”

As Parliament, the Speaker said, “we are ready to work with the independents and give them assignments both from the party and from Parliament.”

The NRM Director of Legal Affairs, Counsel Enoch Barata Welcomed the MPs that have decided to advance the progress of their communities and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the NRM.

The NRM Director of Communication, Hon. Emmanuel Lumala Dombo said that allying with the NRM is a clear testimony that the ruling party is growing stronger.
