Members of Parliament and PLU leaders from the Busoga Sub-Region on Tuesday visited the PLU Secretariat in Naguru, where they formally endorsed Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba for President in 2031 and beyond and picked additional endorsement books to intensify the signature drive across Busoga.
The delegation, led by Busoga Sub-Region Coordinator Mr. Sam Nabeeta, addressed the media at the Secretariat before reaffirming its commitment to Gen. Muhoozi’s leadership and the ongoing nationwide endorsement campaign.
The visit brought together Busoga legislators and PLU leaders at a time when mobilisation across the sub-region continues to gather momentum. The leaders committed themselves to taking the endorsement exercise deeper into communities, with the additional books collected in Naguru set to support signature collection across the districts of Busoga.
For the Busoga team, the exercise now shifts further to the grassroots, where coordinators are expected to work through district, sub-county, parish and village structures to give more people an opportunity to participate.
Busoga already has an established mobilisation network covering the 11 districts of the sub-region and Jinja City, and the endorsement campaign has been structured around taking the exercise directly to communities rather than concentrating it at national offices.
Mr. Nabeeta has previously committed the Busoga team to an ambitious target of collecting more than one million signatures from the sub-region, with mobilisation extending to villages across Busoga. The additional books collected from the Secretariat will strengthen that effort as coordinators expand the exercise.
The MPs’ endorsement adds further political weight to a campaign that has already attracted leaders from different sectors and regions of the country. In recent weeks, PLU headquarters has received Members of Parliament, ministers, business leaders, workers’ representatives and regional delegations either endorsing Gen. Muhoozi or collecting books for mobilisation within their respective constituencies and communities.
For Busoga, Tuesday’s engagement was therefore more than a symbolic visit to the Secretariat. It represented another step in moving the endorsement exercise from regional leadership structures into the hands of mobilisers who will carry it throughout the sub-region.
The Busoga delegation left Naguru with additional endorsement books and a renewed commitment to mobilise support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 2031 presidential bid, as PLU continues building its nationwide endorsement drive.
