National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer, Paddy Kisembo, in the Kikuube by-election has expressed confidence and readiness to clinch the LC5 seat due to the overwhelming popularity that the ruling party enjoys in the district.
“NRM is a mass party. I am confident and well prepared for this election despite limited time given by the electoral commission to campaign,” Kisembo said while addressing the media after campaigning in Kiziranfumbi Sub-county and Kikuube Town Council.
He disclosed that his teams were doing everything possible on ground to canvas support in every village as they spread the NRM message of unity and trust in the party decisions by members.
“We are using robust teams to carry our clear, coherent and consistent messages. We believe that by structuring our campaign in this manner, we should be able to reach everyone in their localities within the limited campaign time and space,” Kisembo explained.
He also called for calm and peace during the campaigns adding that, “the NRM cannot resort to violence since it commands the biggest number of members.”
The NRM Director for Mobilization, Dr Rosemary Seninde, reiterated confidence of winning with ease against the opposition.

“What gives me confidence is that over 90% of the voting population is all NRM. They have been electing NRM and President Museveni and all NRM people in the Kikuube district council in the previous elections. All the sub County and parish councils are dominated by NRM flag bearers. My appeal is to urge residents to turn up in big numbers on Thursday and vote,” Seninde said.
The reception from locals according to Hon. Seninde is good and encouraging. I hope we all remain strong, committed and determined to win together.
Hon. Jane Alisemera, NRM Electotal Commission Commissioner, said the population is positively responding to our message.
“They have assured us of support and mobilisation in places that may not reach physically to ensure NRM wins convincingly,” Hon.Alisemera said.
