Tragic Road Accident Claims 7 Lives In Nwoya District

A devastating road tragedy struck Lapok Mor Village, Nwoya District, in the early hours of 4th May 2026, at around 01:15 AM.

The collision involved:

  • UBP 736U, an Isuzu bus operated by Nile Star Coaches, driven by Abugo Mandella Kadin (currently detained by authorities).
  • SSD 040A/SSD 498C, a Benz Actros trailer.

Investigations reveal that the bus, traveling from Arua, attempted to overtake two vehicles ahead. Tragically, it collided head-on with an oncoming trailer.

Casualties:

  • 4 passengers died instantly at the scene.
  • 16 others were injured and rushed to Anak Hospital.
  • 3 more victims later succumbed to their injuries, raising the death toll to 7.

Eyewitnesses aboard the bus reported the driver’s reckless behavior throughout the trip. Despite passengers raising concerns, the conductor allegedly dismissed their warnings instead of taking corrective action.
