The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has transferred its Real Estate Tax Office from its Nakawa headquarters to RR Pearl Tower One, a property owned by businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, as part of efforts to make tax services more accessible to taxpayers.
The revenue body announced that the new office became operational at the building on September 7, 2026.
The Real Estate Tax Office is situated on the ninth floor of RR Pearl Tower One along Yusuf Lule Road, directly opposite the Ministry of Health headquarters.
URA said the change of location is intended to improve convenience for taxpayers seeking real estate-related tax services while enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of its operations.
RR Pearl Tower and the Ruparelia legacy
The relocation places a specialised URA department within one of the prominent properties associated with the Ruparelia Group, a major player in Uganda’s real estate and business sector.
RR Pearl Tower One is part of the group’s property portfolio, with the “RR Pearl” identity carrying a connection to the Ruparelia family and the late Rajiv Ruparelia, son of Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia.
Rajiv was involved in the family’s business operations and philanthropic initiatives before his death in 2026, an event that attracted widespread attention within Uganda’s business community.
The presence of URA’s Real Estate Tax Office in the building comes as the authority continues to strengthen tax administration and compliance within Uganda’s expanding property market.
Real estate remains an increasingly important source of economic activity and tax revenue, particularly as commercial, residential and mixed-use developments continue to expand in Kampala and other urban areas.
The new location is expected to provide taxpayers with easier access to officers handling real estate tax matters, while supporting URA’s broader objective of improving the taxpayer experience.
